So you’ve published a book… Now what?
With barely enough time to come up for air, I’m hit with the next set of challenges. Like all Firsts in life, this one is no less frightening. Where do I go from here? And no less daunting: What now? Starting a business, or any new project — whatever it may be — is about maintaining momentum. Juggling multiple tasks while keeping one eye on the present and one in the future. The best advice I can...

Can a spine be sexy?
Is there an unwritten rule in book making that the cover is always the most challenging? Inarguably and unapologetically it is the cover that either wins or loses an audiences attention. The cover is the first thing that one sees when perusing a bookstore and perhaps, if you’re lucky like some, your books cover will be facing forward and flaunting itself for all the world to see. But if you’re...

Book Review: Monochromia Botanica by Benny Asrul
Monochromia Botanica is a photographic monograph of the work of artist Benny Asrul. A meditation for the eyes as much as for the mind, Asrul’s photographic exploration of the Singapore Botanic Garden is a page-by-page retreat inward. Each photograph is paired with a thought-provoking ‘word’ to meditate on as our eyes surrender on the meticulously composed image IT pertains to. Asrul’s monograph...
Choosing a printer: Like finding a good...
So it may be a bit of a stretch, but this comparison occurred to me the other day as I was passing a mirror and noticed horrified that a haircut had been months overdue. For better or worse these are the very two tasks I’ve long put off doing, and both, for basically the same reason. In both cases, the reason boils down to finding that person, printer and hairdresser, whom I can trust, communicate...

A Glimpse at Photo Books in History
This is a partial list of the seminal photo books in the history of photography. The information on this list is drawn from “Book of 101 Books, The: Seminal Photographic Books of the Twentieth Century”. I welcome any additions/suggestions for books I’ve missed. Please help me grow this list.

To self publish, or not...
Self-publish, be happy? Self-publish, self-edit, self-market and promote, self-distribute, self-storage, self-, self-, SELF. With self-publishing developing into a competitive trend, it has become a common and accepted practice for emerging photographers to self publish their debut projects and photo essays before major publishers invest in their work. On the one side, recognized photographers...

(via littlebrownmushroom) I couldn’t help myself… I had to reblog this post. Larissa Leclair is a collector of photography and photobooks, and a writer of insightful book reviews, among other things.
Her Indie Photobook Library offers artists and photographers of self-published photobooks and art zines an arena to spotlight their projects. The library, which will be made available to...
